Enjoying the Little Things
Life is hard, y'all. Striking the balance between staying informed and staying sane feels like a tight rope walk with no safety net. The combination of utter disgust in the fascist regime running (ruining) the US and personal life bullshit has thrown my body into a ✨flare up✨, so it's time to reduce some stress. I'm hoping to mitigate some of this bodily bad time by focusing on some of the cool, fun things I've spent my time doing in 2026.
A quarter of a year down, and I'm trying my best to be better about taking pictures; especially of my husband and I. I was filled with a lot of self-loathing for a long time, and fairly recently to boot, but I've been working on it. I won't allow myself to take 80 pictures, just to pick apart every single one until I hate and delete them all... then beat myself up about that as well.
Every one of these pictures was a single take, a feat I never thought I'd accomplish.

- Our friends had a movie night / house warming get together as a late New Years party. We watched a movie, ate some delicious food, and hung out with some of our favorite people. It was truly the perfect way to start of a new year.
- My boss invited me to her wedding out of town, and we actually went! I was already flared up by this point, but we still managed to make the trip there and back in a single day. We even met a lot of my coworkers in person for the first time!

- Were we actually event staff? No, but we knew some of the people that were! It made for a fun outing, and the food was honestly stellar. I'm still dreaming about those birria tacos, mini pancakes, and fancy cars.
- Striking the balance of eating better and having a little treat can be difficult, but enjoying a little pistachio frozen yogurt bar feels a lot better when you walked up to the market to get the groceries. It was the perfect way to cool down on the hot walk home!

- We've been trying to be better about being outside when we can. This picture was from a walk we took in a local park on a gorgeous day during early spring after a lunch date at a cafe. 10/10 would recommend!
- We've been balancing out the busy by spending lots of time hanging on the couch with the cats. They demanded our warmth, especially in winter, and we've happily obliged while watching movies and playing games.
We should all share some good things in our lives with each other occasionally. It can help to fight off the fatigue of the eternal bad news plaguing the world these days. So please, enjoy the wins we've been able to secure lately.
I hope you all can find a few to celebrate in your own lives as well!
